AJAX vs. Flash - Womit wird das Web 2.0 gebaut?

Dotone hat diese Frage in Form eines Boxkampfes gestellt. In der ersten Runde werden zunächst die beiden Kontrahenten vorgestellt, in Runde 2 geht es dann im Detail um einen Vergleich der Features. Wobei eine Reihe von wichtigen Punkten wie Usability oder Einsatz auf mobilen Endgeräten noch fehlen. Vielleicht wird es ja noch eine 3. Runde geben.

Allerdings verweist João Fernandes in einem Kommentar auf das generelle Problem dieses - eigentlich ganz witzig gemachten - Boxkampfs: "Don�'t forget, flash roadmap is not to fight with ajax but to work side-by-side if you want. Take a look of the Kevin Lynch presentation at Web2.0 and see flash comunicating with AJAX. For the loading time, wait for the Flash Player 8.5 and you�'ll see the amazing performance compared with current version. For me, both technologies have their place in web2.0. Both allow people to build better applications faster and that�'s what we all want."

Das war auch mein Eindruck auf der Macromedia-Entwicklerkonferenz MAX 2005, die im November in Anaheim stattgefunden hat. Auch dort stellte niemand die Frage "entweder, oder"? Sondern überall wurde nur diskutiert, wie man mit Hilfe beider Tools das Benutzererlebnis im Web verbessern kann.
